Meet Dr. Ricardo Hernandez, PT, DPT
Dr. Hernandez has been a practicing Doctor of Physical Therapy since 2013 after graduating from UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He diagnoses and treats a wide range of orthopedic injuries and movement dysfunctions of the shoulder, elbow hip, knee, and foot/ankle, and spine. He has the experience and knowledge in safely progressing patients who have opted for surgical/non-operative management, through an effective rehab program that is specifically tailored to each patient. His focus is to reduce pain and restore function to meet patients’ goals. He is not only well versed in treating the general orthopedic population but has dedicated a lot of time towards treating highly competitive as well as recreational athletes with sport specific injuries (surgical and non-operative). He is equipped and knowledgeable in managing an athlete’s care, focusing on sport specific activities to assist in safely returning to high intensity/plyometric training– i.e. ACL functional testing. He specializes in overhead/throwing athlete rehabilitation as well as knee and foot/ankle rehabilitation for high level activity. Ricky is our Clinical Director for Advanced Rehab and Sports and works closely with our physicians to provide the best care for his patients.
Dr. Hernandez grew up in the San Antonio area and has been involved with sports since childhood. He played collegiate baseball while completing his bachelors at Texas A&M International University. Now he spends whatever free time he has being active and outdoors with his wife, Adrianna, and 3 children, Tristan, Eve and Micah.
